Barclays’ lawyers accuse Staveley of inventing story over £66m Qatar fee

Staveley was put on the spot over why she didn’t raise her concerns about the £66m fee with Barclays or her own firm's lawyers as soon as she noticed it in a draft press release being written at the time of the deal

Barclays has accused financier Amanda Staveley of inventing a narrative around fees set to be paid to Qatari investors for helping the bank raise funds in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

Staveley is in a court battle with Barclays and fees are at the centre of the dispute.
