Barclays asked key workers — including traders — to continue to commute to its offices just hours after the UK government imposed lockdown measures on citizens to curb the spread of coronavirus.

In a text sent to UK staff sent late last night, seen by Financial News, the bank said those working in “offices, branches, ops and tech teams and contact centres” had been deemed “essential workers” and should still commute into work.
