Baring Asset Management is set to join the handful of fund managers running a hedge fund focusing on Chinese equities to take advantage of significant growth in the country's economy.

Khiem Do, who will manage the long/short equity hedge fund, said fewer than five hedge funds trade in the Chinese stock market. Do believes the lack of competition and the underlying opportunity will allow him to generate net returns of between 15% and 25% a year.
