Sweeping new capital rules could undermine the banking sector’s fragile recent recovery, according to a Financial News panel.

The latest iteration of financial stability rules, dubbed the Basel III endgame, comes as interest rate hikes have improved battered margins for lenders, which now face the impending regulation alongside fresh macroeconomic headwinds.
