Basel overshadows UK push on 'living wills'

The world's leading banking watchdog has set out its proposals for banks to draw up living wills in a move that could overshadow the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer's "last shot to do something on the international stage".

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision yesterday issued for consultation its recommendations on cross-border bank resolution, which included a prescriptive explanation of how a bank should set out its firm-specific contingency planning.
