Bear Stearns Merchant Banking, the private equity arm of the investment bank, has named a head for its strategic alliance with its Chinese partner following the launch of a joint private equity fund in March.

Steven Kwok will be responsible for identifying investment targets in the consumer and retail sectors in China.
