Joe Bencivenga has abruptly left his position as Barclays Capital's global head of high yield.

An official close to the bank said that Bencivenga left the bank at the end of last week, adding that the move was thought to be unrelated to Barclays' hiring of 60 fixed-income bankers from Credit Suisse First Boston. Officials within the bank did not comment.
