Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has signalled its intent to expand its bond business with the promotion of Peter Knez to the new role of global fixed income chief investment officer.

Knez's duties will include fixed-income research, portfolio management and investment strategy. He will also oversee the growth of the active bond business, particularly in the US, which BGI wants to build.
