The Big Four accountancy firms are stepping up job cuts and not just because business is slow — plummeting attrition rates among employees are forcing many to wield the axe.

UK staff turnover at the world’s biggest professional services firms tumbled by more than 40% in the year to July as exits slowed, according to figures provided to Financial News by workforce data company Revelio Labs.
