Andrew Tyrie may be about to get his wish after all.

Shortly after the formidable former chairman of the Commons Treasury Committee stepped down as an MP last year, he pitched a plan to the 'Big Four' audit firms. It consisted of a new body, akin to the Banking Standards Board, whose mission would be to restore public and political faith in their profession.
