Blackstone Group reported strong third-quarter earnings amid a somewhat cooler exit market and still lethargic deal environment.

The New York-based firm posted a profit of $171.2 million, or 29 cents a share, up from $128.8 million, or 24 cents a share for the same period a year earlier.
