Bloomberg challenger Symphony hires former Nomura executive

Craig Butterworth leaves an 18-year career in investment banking with move to messaging platform

A former Nomura executive included in the recent cuts at the Japanese bank’s London operation has re-emerged at Symphony, the messaging platform challenging Bloomberg.

Craig Butterworth, who was global head of client ecosystem at Nomura – a senior sales role using the bank’s technology to help its clients – has been named head of global account management at Symphony, the tech start-up reportedly valued at $1.4bn.
