Blue Whale’s Stephen Yiu says he dumped Amazon holding as ‘inflation narrative’ weighs on outlook

A UK-based retail investment fund backed by billionaire Peter Hargreaves has sold its entire stake in Amazon after holding the US online retail giant for four years.

Stephen Yiu, manager of the £1.1bn Blue Whale Growth fund, ditched his holding in December, prompted by concerns over rising competition affecting Amazon’s retail business and the longer-term outlook for its successful cloud based platform, Amazon Web Services.
