Some alternative lenders are losing their discipline amid fierce competition for deals, potentially putting investor capital at risk, according to a senior executive at BlueBay Asset Management.

Anthony Fobel, a managing partner in the private-debt group at BlueBay, said a proliferation of credit funds competing for the same investments — particularly at the lower end of the market—is forcing some firms to strike riskier deals.
