Surge in energy derivatives helped lift profit at takeover target BME

The stock exchange group looks set to be acquired by Six Group

Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, the Spanish stock market operator, posted a 7.7% gain in first-quarter profit to €34m.

The increase was driven by higher volumes across multiple divisions, leading to €80.1m in net revenue for the quarter, up 12% year-on-year. Rocky markets during the quarter helped: the company saw an 83% surge in clearing volume of energy derivatives.
