BNP Paribas picks derivatives specialist to lead CIB

Appointment comes as French bank moves Alain Papiasse to the US to help oversee the bank's remediation plan in the region

BNP Paribas has handed a derivatives specialist who has been with the bank for over 25 years the reins of its corporate and investment bank.

Yann Gérardin is to become the French bank's head of CIB in October, according to a statement today. Gérardin, who was this year named as one of Financial News's 100 Most Influential in European finance, has been head of the French bank's global equities and commodity derivatives since 2005, having joined the bank in 1987.
