BNP Paribas rivals Wall Street with sharp rise in fixed income revenues

The French bank’s sales and trading results beat those of its European rivals

French bank BNP Paribas recorded a 63% gain in fixed income revenues during the final quarter of 2019, a sharp swing in line with many of its Wall Street rivals.

The bank posted group-wide revenues of €44.6bn ($48.4bn) for 2019, a 5% increase on the previous year. Profits were around €10bn for the year, a rise of 9.7% on 2018. A 28.2% rise in fourth-quarter net profits to €1.85bn beat analysts’ expectations.
