BNP Paribas is considering spinning off its internal convertible bond arbitrage business to create a separate hedge fund, according to sources close to the French bank.

The move would put Arnaud Dessain-Gelinet, who runs the operation, in charge of his own hedge fund. He would be able to raise capital from third parties.
