BNY Mellon creates chief economist role

BNY Mellon Investment Management, parent of fund managers Insight Investment and Newton, has lured a former chief economist from the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office to join the firm in the same role.

Shamik Dhar will start in the newly-created role on October 1 2018, where he will oversee research and analysis. He has been given a brief to expand BNY Mellon’s economic commentary, and act as a media spokesperson.
