BNY Mellon expands derivatives clearing team

BNY Mellon has expanded its global derivatives clearing team with five appointments in the US and Europe, as regulations forcing the majority of over-the-counter deratives trades through central clearing take hold. Mark Gonzalez has been appointed US chief operating officer for derivatives clearing services, based in New York. He was most recently global chief operating officer at Ardmore Park Capital. Gregory Chemin has been chosen as business head of derivatives clearing services, based in Frankfurt. He previously held senior sales roles at European broker HPC's French operation, and at Newedge in Germany. Paul Dex will lead the firm's efforts from London to identify and develop new opportunities in the OTC derivatives market. He has held roles at Royal Bank of Scotland where he was director, business development and marketing. John Guthrie and Thomas Twomey lead regional business opportunities from New York. Guthrie has held sales and client service roles at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank Securities. Twomey has held roles at OptionsCity, Intercontinental Exchange and the NYMEX.
