A former investment banking chief at Barclays has joined one-time boss Bob Diamond, as the latter builds a new capital markets and trading business in London.

Tom King, who joined Barclays in 2009, will become an operating partner at Atlas Merchant Capital, the investment firm set up by Diamond to take stakes in financial services companies.
