BofA Merrill lands high-profile HFT client

The US bank begins to broker trades for HFT firm Virtu Financial, as it bids to boost revenues in a tough environment for trading equities

Bank of America Merrill Lynch, which has been actively courting high-frequency trading firms in a bid to boost revenues in its equities business, has begun to conduct trades on behalf of one of Europe's largest HFT groups, Financial News has learnt.

The bank is brokering equities trades on behalf of Virtu Financial in some European markets, according to sources familiar with the situation.
