Bolton and Trafford to remain in lockdown after infections surge

The government’s change of mind is just the latest in a series of U-turns

Residents of Bolton and Trafford have longer to wait before they can meet family and friends.

The government has extended a local lockdown in both areas of North West England following a spike in confirmed cases of Covid-19. The more than 350,000 people living in Bolton and Trafford cannot meet other people either indoors in their own homes or in their gardens, the Health Secretary Matt Hancock said in a statement on September 2.
