Inflows strong for bond ETPs

Fixed income exchange-traded products have seen their strongest ever year-to-date inflows, continuing a trend in which investors turn to the products for access to specific market segments

Fixed income exchange-traded products saw their strongest ever year-to-date inflows in the seven months to July, according to new research, continuing a trend in which investors turn to the burgeoning products for access to specific segments of the debt market.

Bond ETPs saw $44.4bn in inflows in the year to the end of July, according to a report published on Tuesday by the BlackRock Investment Institute, a figure that represents 35% of inflows to all ETPs during the period. A year ago, inflows to fixed income ETPs totalled roughly half of that, or $22.9bn.
