New issuance in the international bond market has hit the $1 trillion (€1.16 trillion) mark for the year to date - quicker than ever before.
It was the $3bn bond issue late on Tuesday evening from Fannie Mae, the US government-owned agency, that took the market past the landmark, according to Dealogic Capital Data. Last year the market did not breach the barrier until September, and it was only in 1999 that it reached $1 trillion for the first time.
