Boris Johnson: Don’t travel, delay seeing the elderly at Christmas, think twice about Boxing Day sales

'Keep it short, keep it small, keep it local, and think of the vulnerable'

People are being urged to reduce the number of contacts they make outside their household from 18 December, as the government updates its guidance ahead of the Christmas period.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that while the government would not criminalise any new measures or revise its plan to relax the rules between 23 and 27 December, it is asking people across the UK to take “a personal responsibility” to limit the spread of coronavirus.
