Boris Johnson threatens government legislation to shut down breakaway football super league

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the government could introduce legislation to prevent a planned breakaway European super league which could include six of England’s largest football clubs.

Johnson and culture secretary Oliver Dowden met representatives from the Premier League, the Football Association and football fan groups to discuss action against the proposed league on 20 April.
