Boris Johnson: UK hits ‘grim’ milestone of 100,000 Covid-19 deaths

England's chief medical officer warned that there would be 'quite a lot more deaths' in the coming weeks

The number of deaths in the UK has now surpassed 100,000, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.

“It’s hard to compute the sorrow contained in that grim statistic, the years of life lost, the family gatherings not attended and, for so many relatives, the missed chance even to say goodbye,” Johnson said, striking a solemn tone in a 26 January press conference.
