Once hyped as one of the most important new drivers of the world economy, Brazil has become an increasing cause for concern for analysts.

The Economist gave a bearish stance on the emerging market economy, saying this week: "Brazil has turned itself into a very expensive place to do business." It added that the government was being too tentative in a financial reform programme.
