Britain's vote to leave the European Union has “certainly not dampened the enthusiasm” of Chinese companies to invest in the country, according to the Chinese ambassador to the UK.

Speaking at a Chinese investment event held in London by HSBC on October 11, Liu Xiaoming, a career diplomat who has been China's ambassador to the UK since 2009, said the involvement of China General Nuclear in the UK's planned nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset was "a golden fruit for a golden era", and that he saw opportunities for more co-operation between the countries on infrastructure projects.
