Brexit trade deal still ‘significant possibility’, cabinet minister says in apparent U-turn

Talks are '90% of the way there', Oliver Dowden said, despite Johnson's request for 'vital' no-deal preparations

A trade deal between the UK and the EU is still a “significant possibility”, a cabinet minister has said, despite comments by Prime Minister Boris Johnson which indicated it was more likely the UK was heading towards no trade deal.

Culture secretary Oliver Dowden said the negotiations between London and Brussels were “90% of the way there”, with both sides having agreed a deadline of Sunday as to whether a deal can be found.
