Brexit: What City workers really think

Ask a banker or an asset manager in the City about how much they earn and you will be lucky to get a straight answer, if you get one at all. Similarly, if you seek out their views on Brexit, you will probably be treated to the same wall of silence. Money and Brexit are nearly always off limits.

Aside from a small number of outspoken financiers, Brexit has remained a no-go area since the 2016 referendum. Those working in the Square Mile have mostly remained tight-lipped on their opinions regarding the UK’s imminent departure from the European Union, instructed by their employers to avoid airing views that might alienate clients and ultimately lose the company money.
