Brexit worries push companies to shorter property leases

Slow economic growth is also making tenants eager to be able to change strategy at short notice, says MSCI

Companies are negotiating shorter property leases and asking for more frequent break clauses in response to uncertainty over how the UK’s departure from the European Union will affect their business.

Slow economic growth in the UK is also contributing to tenants’ eagerness to be able to change their real estate strategy at short notice, according to a study carried out by MSCI, the index provider, which looked at close to 100,000 leases.
