Brian Winterflood, one of the best-known names in the City of London, is to retire from his post as life president of Winterflood Securities, the stockbroker he founded almost 30 years ago.

Winterflood will retire the honorary position after his 80th birthday in January 2017, according to a spokesman for Close Brothers, which owns Winterflood Securities.
