British Energy buckles under rebel pressure

Nuclear generator moves to stifle opposition

British Energy, the nuclear generator trying to push through a UK government-backed bailout, has conceded demands by rebel shareholders for an emergency meeting to vote on an alternative restructuring plan. However, the company has unanimously recommended shareholders to reject it.

At the same time the struggling nuclear generator revealed that it has taken further steps to try to ensure its own proposals succeed.
