British insurers bring SRI into the mainstream

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has issued a new set of investment guidelines to improve disclosure by UK companies in their approach to corporate social responsibility, the first time that socially responsible investment (SRI) has gained such broad base support.

The guidelines were launched at a presentation in London on Tuesday. Earlier this year, fund managers estimated that around 40% to 50% of the investment industry would sign up for the ABI guidelines.
