Brits going abroad must explain reasons prior to travel, says Patel

Travel currently permitted for work purposes but ministers set to review criteria that exempts individuals from travel ban

People seeking to travel must first make a declaration about why they need to go abroad, home secretary Priti Patel has announced, as the government updates its policy to include a mandated period of isolation in a hotel for certain UK arrivals.

This declaration will be checked by carriers prior to departure, which Patel said “effectively mirrors” the checks upon landing such as locator forms.
