British Telecommunications has a weaker risk profile than either France Télécom or Deutsche Telekom, according to Fitch, the credit ratings agency.
David Staples, managing director of the European telecoms group at Fitch, said: "Among those three highly leveraged companies, BT lacks the diversification that benefits the other two."
