Bust and boom

The unique selling point for the Allders department stores is that the company is bust. So never mind the staff's concerns for their pensions or the worries of customers who have paid deposits, insolvency accountants at Kroll are playing to their strength. They are spending money to make money by booking in-your-face TV adverts that scream: "Allders. In administration! Many stores closing down! 70% reductions!"

These ads have nothing to do with building a long-term image, but everything to do with short-term cashflow. Hurry, hurry while shops last.
