Buyout chief pushes fair value guidelines

The chairman of an international body that sets guidelines for valuing private equity portfolios will press for broader adoption of its principles by US firms, after being elected to a second term.

Herman Daems, who was re-elected last month as chairman of the International Private Equity & Venture Capital Valuations Guidelines board, will encourage US firms to value their portfolios based on comparison with listed companies, rather than on internal projections and assumptions.
