Buyout lawyers diversify to ride out the deal lull

Attention turns to restructuring deals and general corporate work

Private equity departments at top law firms are turning their attention to restructuring deals and accepting general corporate work in an effort to keep busy amid a dearth of new transactions.

Although buyout houses are looking at new deals more now than they were six months ago, activity remains slow and there is more work to be had elsewhere, according to lawyers.
