BVCA chairman advocates private-public co-operation

Edmund Truell, in his role as chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA), has urged a rapprochement between the financial services industry and the UK government.

Truell, chief executive of Duke Street Capital, spoke at the BVCA's Annual Chairman's Dinner on Wednesday. He highlighted the need to restore mutual confidence to allow the UK private and public sectors to work together in the post-Railtrack environment. The UK government forced Railtrack, the listed UK company that managed the country's rail infrastructure, into receivership and effectively back into public ownership, when it refused the company further funding.
