California pension plan redefines diversity for its private equity managers

The state’s second largest pension plans to update how it defines and measures diversity among its investment managers

California State Teachers’ Retirement System is updating its definition of diversity for the private equity firms that manage its assets.

The new definition, due to be drawn up by the $254.1bn pension system in July, will be used to help evaluate investment decisions, Scott Chan, deputy chief investment officer for the pension plan, said at its board meeting Thursday.
