Calpers appoints new chief executive

California Public Employees' Retirement System (Calpers) has appointed Fred Buenrostro as its new chief executive officer.

Buenrostro replaces James Burton who left in August to become chief executive of the World Gold Council in London. The post was temporarily filled by Robert Walton, who will now resume his role as assistant executive officer at the fund's governmental affairs, planning and research and customer call centre.
