Calpers backs former SEC chairman hedge fund venture

The California Public Employees Retirement System, the largest public pension scheme in the US, has committed $400m (€310m) to a hedge fund run by Richard Breeden, a former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Californian pension scheme, which has $211bn of assets, will become one of the largest single investors in the hedge fund, according to Dow Jones Newswires. The fund has to date raised $500m.
