The California Public Employees' Retirement System, the $200bn (€164.7bn) US pension fund, has committed an additional $965.5m to five different private equity funds over the next three years.

London-based Candover Investments was awarded $179m for a fund focusing on buyouts of middle market and private companies with enterprise values of between $180m and $1.8bn.
