Calpers plans more for private equity and real estate

California Public Employees' Retirement System, the biggest US pension fund, plans to increase its investments in private equity, real estate and a range of other alternative assets over the next three years in a bid to match its $250bn (€174bn) portfolio more closely to inflation.

It also confirmed a mooted shift out of US equities, and to a lesser extent out of equities altogether, to fund the move as well as a shift away from fixed income.
