Calyon pegged back in third quarter

Net profits at Calyon, the corporate and investment banking arm of Crédit Agricole, increased by 16% in the third quarter compared to the same period a year before, but the group fell short of analyst growth forecasts.

Calyon said the slowdown in profits for the third quarter reflected less favourable conditions for market activities including a flattening of the yield curve, downward volatility and lower brokerage volumes.
