Cantor Fitzgerald, the US trading and corporate finance group, is stepping up efforts to woo hedge fund clients in Europe, bringing competition to the region’s largest banks at a time of falling revenues from prime brokerage.

Sean Capstick, who joined Cantor as head of prime brokerage in Europe, the Middle East and Africa from the broker GPP earlier this year, said: “We’ve made a big push recently in the prime brokerage space and that’s only going to continue — we’re in hiring mode and there’s lots more to come.”
