Cantor Fitzgerald has hired Mark Webster, the former chief executive of rival Icap's Asian business, and plans to hire as many as 65 staff to build up a voice brokerage in Sydney.

Webster, who was also directly responsible for Icap's Australian business, is understood to have left Icap two weeks ago in a surprise move, according to moneybroking sources.
